Our nationwide Young Ambassador program aims to further enhance our wish granting mission. Young Ambassadors are former wish children who have been invited to spread the word of magic among a variety of audiences. They all display passion, courage, leadership and a willingness to achieve.
Our Young Ambassadors will participate in a variety of tasks on behalf of Make-A-Wish® New Zealand. They may be asked to appear in media photo shoots, represent the organisation at corporate or community events, speak at public engagements and write about their own wish and life experiences.
Make-A-Wish New Zealand CEO, Scott Simpson believes this program is a fantastic avenue for wish recipients to continue their relationship with Make-A-Wish New Zealand. “Our Young Ambassadors, many times, have commented on just how important it is for them to continue spreading the Make-A-Wish magic around New Zealand. They are busy, successful young adults and for them to take time out to support us is just fantastic”, said Scott.
Kirsty was granted her wish in 2008 which was to record a song with Savage.
Kirsty loves to sing and her wish was to record a hip-hop song with recording artist, Savage. Kirsty met Savage before the recording. They wrote a song together and created a beat track. Then it was time to create magic at Stebbing Recording Centre. Arriving in a limo, Kirsty had a fantastic day professionally recording her first song called “Things Are Getting Better.”
Kirsty’s song is about not giving up, having hope, being strong and looking forward, not back.
