FIONA & PHIL DONATE $1,500 AFTER WINNING PIN & WIN FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
It is with great excitement that Make-A-Wish announce the winner of our latest Pin & Win campaign, Fiona and Phil from Feilding.
In October 2015, Make-A-Wish began a nationwide Pin & Win fundraising campaign in an effort to increase funding and our ability to grant more magical wishes for sick children in local communities across New Zealand. Throughout the country, Make-A-Wish volunteers would sell pins (or badges) to on-street supporters who would be invited to enter their unique code contained within online at our website to go in the draw to win $15,000 cash.
During August, Fiona purchased one of our Make-A-Wish pins from a Make-A-Wish volunteer at her local supermarket in Feilding but at the time had no idea that in two months time she would be receiving a phone call from us to let her know she was the lucky winner of the $15,000 prize!
So who are Fiona and Phil from Feilding?
Fiona and Phil are both trained teachers who have been married for 26 years. The have a foster-son and a number of animals and pets. Neither had financially supported Make-A-Wish in the past, but had heard about the power of a Make-A-Wish wish previously, so Fiona was excited to support our cause when offered the opportunity.
Nicki, one of our 110 Wish Granting Volunteers nationwide is based in Feilding, and was happy to meet Fiona with a large Make-A-Wish cheque to celebrate their winnings - you can see them all in the above photo.
Incredibly, supporting Make-A-Wish with their pin purchase wasn't enough giving for Fiona and Phil, who have donated back 10% of their winnings to us as well as 10% to their church. What a fantastic couple. Fiona would like to thank the young volunteer who had reminded her to register her unique number online - none of this would have been possible without her help.
Thank you Fiona and Phil!
