A message to our community

As COVID-19 continues to cause disruption and distress, front of our minds are the thousands of people who make up the Make-A-Wish family, including our wish kids, volunteers and supporters. We’re taking every measure we can right now to keep our wish community safe. With that, we've had to make some changes to our program.

A message to our supporters

New Zealand, we’re all doing it tough right now.

As COVID-19 continues to cause disruption and distress, front of our minds are the thousands of people who make up the Make-A-Wish family, including our wish kids, volunteers and supporters. We’re taking every measure we can right now to keep our wish community safe. With much regret we've made the difficult decision to postpone some wishes over the next few months including travel wishes, experience-based wishes and celebrity meet'n'greets.

We're in touch with all families on a Wish Journey to talk through what this means for them. Most community-based fundraising events and volunteer activities are also on hold.

We’re heartbroken that we can’t make some wishes come true over this period for children who need them. But what we can do is keep wish children positive and focused on the future through Wish Anticipation and showing our ongoing support. We can allow them to be creative, to express themselves and to be children (rather than patients).

Our Wish team are working at maximum capacity (remotely!) to ensure that each wish child is supported through imagination and creativity while they wait for their wish to come true. And, we remain absolutely committed to ensuring every eligible wish child on our program has the very best wish experience when it’s safe to do so.

When this difficult period passes, Make-A-Wish will be here to make wishes come true for the hundreds of New Zealand children that need them. But, as our amazing wish suppliers, volunteers and partners get back on their feet, we need your help now more than ever to bring these wishes to life.

Find out how you can help!

Kia Kaha everyone.
